S&P raises Americo Life

S&P said it raised its ratings on Americo Life Inc. and its senior unsecured notes to BBB from BBB-.

The agency revised its criteria for evaluating an insurer’s risk-based capital. S&P published the revised criteria on Nov. 15.

“The revised criteria has a positive impact on our view of the company's financial risks as its expanded capital size made it less vulnerable to single-event risk,” the agency said in a press release.

The outlook is stable.
