Aberdeen Emerging Markets to merge into Emerging Markets Institutional

By Tali David

Minneapolis, March 5 - The Aberdeen Funds board of trustees approved the reorganization of the Aberdeen Emerging Markets Fund into the Aberdeen Emerging Markets Institutional Fund, according to a 497 filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Aberdeen said it expects the reorganization to occur in the second quarter of 2012.

The two funds have identical investment objectives, strategies and policies, but the Emerging Markets Fund is subject to some non-fundamental investment restrictions that do not apply to the Emerging Markets Institutional Fund.

Following the closing of the reorganization, the name of the Emerging Markets Institutional Fund will be changed to delete the word "Institutional."

No fees will be imposed on shareholders due to the reorganization.

The fund's adviser is Philadelphia-based Aberdeen Asset Management Inc.
