Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 20 - Janney Montgomery Scott LLC said in a press release it has hired Matthew Levin as a managing director of municipal capital markets.

Levin will work in the firm's Philadelphia headquarters, providing banking coverage to municipal issuers throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as to the investor-owned utility sector.

Levin joins Janney from Goldman Sachs where he was a member of the public sector and infrastructure banking group. While at Goldman, he focused on the sports facility, public power and transportation sectors. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he was with Morgan Stanley and Prudential Securities.

Levin earned a bachelor's from George Washington University and a master's of public administration with a concentration in public financial management from American University.

"Adding professionals of this caliber, like Matt - who brings with him to Janney tremendous depth and breadth of experience in the capital markets sector as well as a proven track record of skill and success in municipal banking - will continue to position the firm for future growth," head of municipal capital markets Steve Genyk said in the release.

Janney provides financial advice and service to individual, corporate and institutional investors.
