iShares Sovereign Screened Global Bond Fund prepares for launch

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, March 5 - The iShares Sovereign Screened Global Bond Fund, Inc. is planning to launch, according to an N-1A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The fund will seek to generate current income while striving to mitigate downside risk by investing principally in global sovereign debt obligations. The fund plans to invest, under normal circumstances, at least 80% of its net assets in bonds that are denominated in the U.S. dollar as well as local currencies and are issued by governments in both developed and emerging market countries. The exchange-traded fund is not aligned with the performance of an index.

The portfolio managers will be James Mauro and Scott Radell.

The fund's ticker symbol and fees have not yet been determined.

San Francisco-based BlackRock Fund Advisors will serve as the fund's investment adviser.
