S&P: view on South African banks negative

S&P said it revised the outlook on nine South African banks to negative from stable. The revision follows the revision on South Africa’s outlook to negative.

The banks are FirstRand Bank Ltd., FirstRand Ltd., Nedbank Ltd., Investec Bank Ltd., Capitec Bank Ltd., and African Bank Ltd.

“We affirmed our BB long-term global scale issuer credit ratings on FirstRand Bank Ltd., Nedbank Ltd., Investec Bank Ltd., and Capitec Bank Ltd. We also affirmed our B+/B issuer credit ratings on FirstRand Ltd. and African Bank Ltd.,” said S&P in a press release.
