Interstate Bakeries posts operating loss of $6.76 million for four weeks ended Aug. 20

Washington, Oct. 5 - Interstate Bakeries Corp. reported a $6.76 million operating loss for the four weeks ended Aug. 20 on revenues of $239.48 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

For the four weeks ended July 23, the company posted a $1.64 million operating income on revenues of $250.79 million.

The net loss for the August period was $5.19 million, compared to a net gain of $283,864 for the month to July 23.

Cash at Aug. 20 was $161.42 million, up from $157.65 million at the end of the previous month.

The Kansas City, Mo., bakery operator filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 22, 2004 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-45814.
