Interstate Bakeries plan confirmation hearing postponed, new date to be scheduled later

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, April 21 - Interstate Bakeries Corp.'s plan confirmation hearing has been postponed indefinitely, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri.

The plan confirmation hearing was previously scheduled to begin Tuesday. The court said it will reschedule the hearing at a later date at the request of the company.

As previously reported, Interstate requested the extra time to allow the company to continue discussions regarding modifications to its plan of reorganization and related exit financing that would allow it to emerge from Chapter 11 as a stand-alone company.

In addition, Interstate will use the time to continue efforts to sell all or part of its businesses and assets in the event that a stand-alone reorganization plan is not achievable.

The Kansas City, Mo., bakery operator filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 22, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-45814.
