Valic II International Small Cap Equity Fund to change name, strategy

San Diego, Feb. 2 - The board of trustees of Valic Co. II approved on Jan. 31 a change to the name and the principal investment strategy of the International Small Cap Equity Fund, according to a 497K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Effective May 1, the fund's name will change to the International Opportunities Fund.

The fund will also invest at least 80% of its net assets in equity and equity-related securities of small- and mid-cap companies throughout the world, excluding the United States, whose capitalization at the time of purchase does not exceed $10 billion.

Currently, the fund invests in only small-cap companies throughout the world, excluding the United States, whose capitalization at the time of purchase does not exceed $6 billion.

The fund's investment adviser is Houston-based Variable Annuity Life Insurance Co., or Valic.
