Intermet records $950,000 operating profit for January.

New York, Feb. 28 - Intermet Corp. said it had an operating profit of $950,000 on sales of $59.55 million in January.

Its net loss for the month was $3.15 million, according to an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Cash at Jan. 31 was $3.85 million.

Based in, Troy, Mich., Intermet produces ductile iron, aluminum, magnesium and zinc castings for the automotive and industrial markets.

Intermet filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 29 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-67597.
