Intermet posts $4.62 million September operating loss

Pittsburgh, Oct. 20 - Intermet Corp. posted a $4.62 million operating loss in September on net sales of $49.79 million, according to its monthly operating report filed Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The net loss for the month was $8.56 million.

Cash and cash equivalents on Sept. 30 were $4.46 million, up marginally from $4.34 million at the end of August.

Intermet, a Troy, Mich., auto parts maker, filed for bankruptcy on Sept. 29, 2004 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-67597.
