By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, May 26 - Intermet Corp. obtained an extension of its exclusive periods for filing a plan of reorganization and soliciting votes on the plan, according to a Tuesday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

Specifically, the company's exclusive plan-filing period was extended to June 1 from April 30 and the solicitation period to July 31 from June 30.

The company said it has more work to do to comply with extended transaction milestones under its global customer agreement.

Intermet, a Fort Worth, Texas-based automotive cast component supplier, filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 12, 2008. Its Chapter 11 case number is 08-11859.
