Interfaith Medical Center eyes 90-day extension of plan-filing period

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., March 1 - Interfaith Medical Center, Inc. asked the court for a 90-day extension of its exclusive periods to file a plan of reorganization and solicit votes on the plan, according to a Friday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.

The company wants to extend its initial exclusive filing period to July 1 from April 1 and its initial exclusive solicitation period to Aug. 31 from May 31.

A hearing is scheduled for March 18.

In making its request, Interfaith Medical cited the size and complexity of its cases, including more than 1,000 creditors, operations in a highly regulated industry, about $130 million in outstanding secured debt and roughly $300 million of total obligations.

Interfaith, a Brooklyn, N.Y., multi-site health care system operator, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 2. Its Chapter 11 case number is 12-48226.
