S&P affirms Interconexion Electrica

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed the BBB- local-currency and BB+ foreign-currency long-term corporate credit ratings on Interconexion Electrica SA ESP.

The outlook is stable.

S&P said the ratings reflect the company's dominant position, its strategic importance to the Republic of Colombia, its natural monopoly, strong competitive position, efficient operations and the government's ownership.

These strengths are mitigated by the risks of operating in Colombia, an aggressive financial policy and debt-funded acquisitions, foreign-exchange risk and increased exposure to more volatile economies, the agency said.
