S&P ups InterCement Brasil

S&P said it raised its ratings for InterCement Brasil SA to CCC from CC and national ratings to brB- from brCC.

InterCement’s proposed exchange failed to get the 85% acceptance rate needed, and S&P said it would’ve viewed the transaction as equivalent to a default.

“We don’t expect default to be a virtual certainty anymore, although we view risks for a default or similar distressed exchange offer in the next 12 months,” S&P said in a press release.

The outlook is negative.
