New Issue: AIG prices $48.5 million notes linked to Asian currencies via Merrill Lynch

Des Moines, Feb. 8 - American International Group, Inc. priced $48.5 million of zero-coupon principal-protected notes due June 8, 2009 linked to a basket of Asian currencies, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The basket consists of equal weights of the Indian rupee, the Singaporean dollar and the South Korean won, all against the dollar.

The payout at maturity will be par plus 105% of any gain on the basket. Investors will receive at least par.

Merrill Lynch & Co. is the underwriter.
