By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Nov. 2 - American International Group Inc. investors led by former chief executive officer Maurice Greenberg and C. V. Starr & Co., Inc. "are considering and evaluating strategic alternatives designed to lead to the maximization of their investment" in the company.

The investors believe there are "opportunities to significantly improve" AIG's performance. As a result, they may discuss their views with other shareholders and third parties, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
