Highland Capital seeks seats on American Homepatient board

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., June 7 - Highland Capital Management, LP and its affiliates initially acquired stock in American Homepatient Inc. as an investment but recently had conversations with the company's chief executive officer regarding financing alternatives and other matters related to American Homepatient's capital structure and business operations.

The investor also expressed interest in having the board of directors expanded by two directors, with two representatives of Highland Capital being elected to fill the vacancies, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Highland Capital and the reporting persons beneficially own 8,437,164 shares, or 48%, of the Brentwood, Tenn., home health care provider's common stock.
