S&P: American General on watch
Standard & Poor's said it placed the BBB long-term counterparty credit rating on American General Finance Corp. on CreditWatch with negative implications.
The agency said it placed the company's trust-preferred securities on CreditWatch with positive implications and affirmed the A-3 short-term counterparty credit rating.
The CreditWatch negative stems from concerns about the potential funding and liquidity challenges the company faces now that the rating no longer incorporates parental support, the agency noted.
