American Equity plans exchange offer for 5.25% contingent convertibles

Chicago, June 18 - American Equity Investment Life Holding Co. plans to begin an exchange offer for its outstanding 5.25% contingent convertible senior notes due 2029, according to a 424B5 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In exchange, the company is offering cash and newly issued shares of common stock.

American Equity is a West Des Moines, Iowa-based insurance company.
