Huffy asks for extension to exclusive periods

New York, April 8 - Huffy Corp. asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Ohio to extend its exclusive periods by 90 days.

The company wants until Aug. 2 to file a plan, instead of May 4, and Until Oct. 1 to solicit acceptances, instead of July 3.

The extra time will allow Huffy to avoid "premature formulation" of a plan of reorganization and ensure it can take into account the interests of the various groups affected by the restructuring, according to a filing with the court Friday.

Huffy, a Miamisburg, Ohio-based bicycle and sporting goods company, filed for bankruptcy Oct. 20, 2004. Its Chapter 11 case number is 04-39148.
