HSBC plans autocallable contingent coupon buffered notes on MSCI EAFE

Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 3 – HSBC USA Inc. plans to price autocallable contingent coupon buffered securities due Jan. 7, 2022 linked to the MSCI EAFE index, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

From the pricing date until Jan. 2, 2019, the notes will pay a contingent monthly coupon at an annual rate of 3.75% to 3.85% if the index closes at or above 85% of its initial level on each trading date of that month. The exact coupon will be set at pricing.

The notes will be called at par plus the contingent coupon if the index closes at or above 85% of its initial level on any trading date from the pricing date until Jan. 2, 2019.

The payout at maturity will be the return plus 15%.

HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. is the agent.

The notes (Cusip: 40435FQK6) will price on Jan. 4 and settle on Jan. 9.
