HSBC plans to price 3.5-year barrier AMPS linked to iShares MSCI EM

San Luis Obispo, Calif., Feb. 2 – HSBC USA Inc. plans to price 0% barrier Accelerated Market Participation Securities due Aug. 27, 2018 linked to the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets exchange-traded fund, according to an FWP with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The payout at maturity will be par plus 1.5 times any gain in the fund, up to a maximum return of at least 50%. The exact cap will be set at pricing.
Investors will receive par if the fund falls by up to 25% and will be fully exposed to any losses if the fund finishes below the 75% barrier.
The notes (Cusip: 40433BYN2) will price on Feb. 20 and settle on Feb. 27.
