HSBC plans 18-month AMPS with 16%-20% cap linked to S&P 500

Chicago, Aug. 2 - HSBC USA Inc. plans to price 0% buffered Accelerated Market Participation Securities due March 4, 2015 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to a 424B2 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The payout at maturity will be par plus triple any gain in the index, up to a maximum return of 16% to 20%. The exact cap will be set at pricing.
Investors will be exposed to any losses.
HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. is the agent.
The notes will price on Aug. 27 and settle on Aug. 30.
The Cusip number is 40432XJB8.
