HSBC plans to price one-year return enhanced notes linked to S&P 500

San Diego, March 2 - HSBC USA Inc. plans to price return enhanced notes due March 21, 2012 linked to the S&P 500 index, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and exchange Commission.

Investors will receive two times any gain in the index at maturity, capped at a gain that is expected to be 17.2%.

Investors will be fully exposed to any index decline.

J.P. Morgan Securities LLC is the agent.

The notes (Cusip: 4042K1ER0) are expected to price on March 4 and settle on March 9.
