HSBC USA plans Far East equity buffer notes linked to index basket

New York, Feb. 5 - HSBC USA Inc. plans to issue Far East equity buffer notes due Aug. 26, 2010 linked to equal weights of the Nikkei 225, Hong Kong Hang Seng China Enterprises, MSCI Taiwan and MSCI Singapore Free indexes, according to an FWP filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The notes will price on Feb. 23 and settle on Feb. 28.

At maturity, investors will receive par plus 120% of any basket return. Investors will lose 1% for each 1% the index declines beyond 20%.

HSBC Securities (USA) Inc. will be the agent.
