American Capital files $750 million shelf for common stock, preferreds

Knoxville, Tenn., June 1 - American Capital Agency Corp. filed a $750 million common stock and preferred stock shelf registration in an S-3 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration also covers 2.5 million common shares to be resold by investors.

Proceeds will be used to acquire agency securities and for other general corporate purposes.

Based in Bethesda, Md., American Capital Agency is a real estate investment trust.
