Remaining Hostess factory assets to be auctioned beginning Oct. 30

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Oct. 28 - Multiple auctions for Hostess Brands, Inc.'s remaining factory assets will be conducted by Rabin Worldwide Inc., in conjunction with Capital Recovery Group, on behalf of Hackman Capital Partners, according to a Rabin news release.

After Hostess ceased operations in November 2012 and many of its brands and factories were sold, Rabin said Hackman purchased the remaining real estate, bakery equipment and fleet assets located in 34 states.

In addition to seven complete Hostess factories that produced Twinkies, Cupcakes, and Wonder Bread, Rabin said the auction will include more than 3,000 trucks and trailers at more than 90 additional locations.

A series of factory auctions will be held both online and live over the next three months, beginning Oct. 30 in Los Angeles. The remaining auctions will be held in St. Louis, Cincinnati, Oakland, and Philadelphia.

"The amount of interest in these auctions is unprecedented," Rabin president Richard Reese said in the release.

"The nostalgia for Hostess Brands has attracted a lot of attention to the sales, and we hope it will strengthen bidding."

Hostess Brands, an Irving, Texas-based operator of regional bakeries, filed for bankruptcy on Jan. 11, 2012 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York. Its Chapter 11 case number is 12-22052.
