Horsehead Chapter 11 plan confirmation order enforced by Ontario court

By Caroline Salls

Pittsburgh, Sept. 15 – Horsehead Holding Corp. said the Ontario Superior Court of Justice entered a recognition and discharge order enforcing the Chapter 11 plan confirmation and unit purchase and support agreement orders entered by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, according to an 8-K filed Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Horsehead foreign representative Zochem Inc. filed a Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act case in the Ontario court to gain recognition of the Chapter 11 orders.

The plan was confirmed by the U.S. court on Sept. 9.

The company said it expects the Chapter 11 plan to take effect as soon as all plan conditions have been satisfied.

Pittsburgh-based Horsehead Holding is the parent company of Horsehead Corp., a U.S. producer of specialty zinc and zinc-based products and a recycler of electric arc furnace dust. The company filed bankruptcy on Feb. 2, 2016 under Chapter 11 case number 16-10287.
