Seidman meets with American Bancorp of NJ to discuss increasing shareholder value

Charlotte, N.C., July 27 - American Bancorp of New Jersey, Inc. investor Lawrence B. Seidman reported owning 823,528 shares, or 6.6%, of the company's stock as an investment, according to a schedule 13D filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Seidman, representing the reporting persons, has had "several meetings with the president and chief operating officer and vice chairman of the board to discuss ways to maximize shareholder value," the filing stated. In addition, Seidman has discussed board representation with the parties.

American Bancorp, the holding company for American Bank of New Jersey, is based in Bloomfield, N.J.
