John Hancock seeks shareholder approval to merge two high-yield funds

San Luis Obispo, Calif., June 27 - The board of trustees of John Hancock Funds II approved an agreement and plan of reorganization providing for the merger of the High Income Fund into the John Hancock High Yield Fund, according to a 497 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Subject to shareholder approval at an Oct. 10 meeting, the merger is expected to occur after close of business on Oct. 15.

Boston-based John Hancock Advisers, LLC is the investment adviser to the funds.
