Heilig-Meyers reports operating income of $43,000 for October

Washington, Dec. 15 - Heilig-Meyers Co. reported $43,000 of operating income for October on $98,000 of "other" income sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Nov. 30 with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and reprinted in an 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Thursday.

The numbers compare with a $60,000 September operating income on $125,000 of other income sales.

The net loss for October was $169,000 versus a $430,000 September net loss.

Cash at Oct. 31 was $22.68 million, compared with $22.81 million at the end of September.

Heilig-Meyers, a Richmond, Va.-based furniture retailer, filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 16, 2000. Its Chapter 11 case number is 00-34533.
