Heilig-Meyers posts $55,000 operating income for August

New York, Sept. 30 - Heilig-Meyers Co. reported $55,000 of operating income for August on $107,000 of "other" income sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

The income is a reversal from a $43,000 operating loss in July.

The net loss for August was $245,000, down significantly from a $610,000 June net loss.

Cash at August 31 was $22.79 million, compared to $23.45 million at the end of July.

Heilig-Meyers, a Richmond, Va.-based furniture retailer, filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 16, 2000. Its Chapter 11 case number is 00-34533.
