Heilig-Meyers posts $1.98 million loss for September

Washington, Nov. 15 - Heilig-Meyers Co. reported a $1.98 million loss on sales of $28.34 million for September, according to a report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission Monday.

The Richmond, Va.-based furniture retailer's operating loss was $130,000.

For the seven months ended Sept. 30, Heilig-Meyers lost $6.29 million on sales of $190.64 million with an operating loss of $1.87 million.

The company reported having no cash on Sept. 30, unchanged from Feb. 29, 2004.

Heilig-Meyers filed for bankruptcy on Aug. 16, 2000 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virgina. Its Chapter 11 case number is 00-34533.
