AmCOMP postpones special meeting

Charlotte, N.C., May 28 - AmCOMP Inc. postponed its special meeting of stockholders originally scheduled for May 29.

A new date for the meeting will be announced, a company news release stated.

At the special meeting, shareholders will vote on AmCOMP's proposed merger with a wholly owned subsidiary of Employers Holdings, Inc., which is a Reno, Nev.-based provider of worker compensation insurance to U.S. small businesses.

AmCOMP, a North Palm Beach, Fla., property and casualty insurer, said the postponement will give the company additional time to address the issues raised by the notice of intent to issue order to return excess profit from the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.
