Hartford Global Enhanced Dividend Fund plans to liquidate May 18

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, March 29 - The board of directors of Hartford Mutual Funds, Inc. approved on March 27 a plan of liquidation for the Hartford Global Enhanced Dividend Fund, according to a 497 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The board said that in consideration of the fund's current structure and ability to gain traction in the market, it is in the best interest of the fund to liquidate.

Prior to the May 18 liquidation date, the fund will begin to convert all portfolio securities to cash or cash equivalents. Any shares of the fund outstanding on May 18 will automatically be redeemed, with a distribution of liquidation proceeds made to shareholders of record as of the close of business on the business day preceding the liquidation date.

Simsbury, Conn.-based Hartford Investment Financial Services, LLC is the fund's investment adviser.
