Harbin Electric files $100 million shelf covering debt, common stock

Knoxville, Tenn., April 20 - Harbin Electric, Inc. filed a $100 million shelf registration in an S-3 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The registration covers common stock, warrants, debt securities and units.

The debt may be structured as convertibles.

Proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.

The company, based in Harbin, China, develops linear motors and special electric motors.
