Happy Kids gets interim exclusivity extension

Pittsburgh, May 16 - Happy Kids Inc. was granted an interim extension of its exclusive period to file its plan of reorganization and to solicit votes on the plan, according to a Monday filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.

For now, the company has until June 28 to file its plan and until Aug. 29 to solicit votes.

Happy Kids requested a 120-day extension to each exclusive period.

A hearing on the requested extension will be held June 28.

Happy Kids is a New York-based designer and marketer of children's apparel. Declining sales and being overleveraged for several years led Happy Kids to file for bankruptcy on Jan. 4. Its Chapter 11 case number is 05-10016.
