Hancock Fabrics posts $1.35 million operating income for month ended Dec. 1

Pittsburgh, Dec. 21 - Hancock Fabrics, Inc. reported a $1.35 million operating income for the month ended Dec. 1 on $27.07 million in sales, according to its monthly operating report filed Friday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

The figures compared to a $2.06 million operating income for the month ended Nov. 3 on $25.06 million in sales.

The net loss for the latest period was $17,000, declining from $2,000 in net earnings for the previous period.

Cash and cash equivalents on Dec. 1 were $3.37 million, compared with $3.78 million on Nov. 3.

Hancock Fabrics, a Baldwyn, Miss., specialty retailer of fabric and related home sewing and decorating accessories, filed for bankruptcy on March 21, 2007. Its Chapter 11 case number is 07-10353.
