S&P: Halliburton unaffected

Standard & Poor's said that the indication from Halliburton Co.'s (BBB+/stable/A-2) management that the company is less likely to pursue an IPO of KBR, prior to a spin-off of KBR to Halliburton shareholders, does not affect the rating on the company.

The agency added that Halliburton's management made the comment during its second-quarter earnings call, noting that Halliburton began the process of spinning off KBR in April when it filed for an IPO of the unit.

However, due to a number of factors including KBR's uneven operating performance, the timing of the IPO is uncertain, S&P said.
