S&P affirms Halliburton, view up to positive

Standard & Poor's said it affirmed its BBB corporate credit rating on Halliburton Co. and revised the outlook to positive from stable.

S&P said the outlook revision is based on improved operating performance across all of Halliburton's business segments, which, when coupled with material debt reduction, will meaningfully improve the company's credit profile in the near term.

Ratings continue to reflect a satisfactory business profile based on the strong market position, improved operating performance and favorable market demand associated with its oilfield services business, S&P noted.

These strengths are tempered by the weaker profitability characteristics and challenging operating environment of the KBR government services segment, the agency added.
