J.C. Penney defeases its 6 7/8% medium-term notes due 2015

Norfolk, Va., Oct. 22 – J.C. Penney Co., Inc. defeased its 6 7/8% medium-term notes due Oct. 15, 2015, according to a company news release.
The company deposited $63,849,262.50 of funds to redeem the notes at par plus accrued interest on their maturity date.
The notes were issued by subsidiary J.C. Penney Corp., Inc.
Wilmington Trust, NA is the trustee.
J.C. Penney is a Plano, Texas-based department store company.
