By Paul A. Harris

St. Louis, March 3 - Price talk in the area of 10½% was heard Wednesday on Gold Kist Inc.'s proposed $200 million offering of 10-year senior notes (B2), a market source said.

The deal is expected to price on Thursday.

Credit Suisse First Boston is the bookrunner for the Rule 144A/Regulation S offering.

The notes will come with five years of call protection.

Proceeds will be used to repay bank debt and for general corporate purposes.

Gold Kist is an Atlanta-based chicken processor.
