S&P rates Alstom BBB+/A-2

Standard & Poor's said it assigned BBB+ long-term and A-2 short-term corporate credit ratings to Alstom SA.

The outlook is stable.

Ratings reflect Alstom's satisfactory business risk profile, which is strong within the category, the agency said.

Other positive factors include strong competitive positions in the company's core segments of power generation and transportation, good business prospects, adequate profitability and good diversity, S&P said.

These factors are partly offset by intense competition, operating risk related to supply chain constraints and project execution due to technically challenging equipment, the agency said.
