Banc of America Securities hires Lei Zhong as biotechnology equity analyst

New York, June 27 - Banc of America Securities LLC said it hired Lei Zhong as a vice president and senior equity research analyst covering the biotechnology sector with senior analyst David Witzke.

Zhong has been head of U.S. biotechnology research at Natexis Bleichroeder, Inc. and senior biotechnology analyst at Rodman & Renshaw LLC.

"Lei is an important addition to our already distinguished health care equity research team," said Susan Silverstein, managing director and global director of equity research, in a news release.

"He brings tremendous knowledge of the science as well as financial markets experience, a combination that we expect will deliver great value to our institutional clients."

The company's 10-member health care equity research team covers biotechnology, diagnostic and research supplies, health care facilities and specialty pharmaceuticals among others.

Charlotte, N.C.-based parent company Bank of America provides financial services.
