Wachovia names Roche to head investment banking

New York, Nov. 14 - Wachovia Securities named Kevin Roche as head of its Investment Banking division. He will report to Steve Cummings and Barnes Hauptfuhrer, co-heads of the Wachovia Securities Corporate & Investment Banking division. The announcements follows the Sept. 1 merger of First Union Corp. and Wachovia Corp.

Within investment banking, Wachovia named the following to head specific areas:

* Jeff Armstrong as Head of Financial Sponsors Group

* Jay Braden as Head of High Yield Capital Markets

* Joe Dempsey as Head of Telecommunications Corporate Finance

* Bob Healy as Head of Loan Syndications

* John Hudson as Head of Healthcare Corporate Finance

* Bruce Levy as Head of Media Corporate Finance

* Mark Mealy as Head of Consumer & Industrial Corporate Finance/Mergers and Acquisitions

Within the Consumer & Industrial Corporate Finance Units, Wachovia made the following appointments:

* Bill Blue as Head of Consumer Products & Retail Corporate Finance

* Rick Dowd as Head of Strategic Advisory Group

* Tom Gallagher as Head of Defense & Aerospace Corporate Finance

* Ed Imbrogno as Head of Industrial Growth & Services Corporate Finance

* James Kipp as Head of Energy Corporate Finance

* Jim Rice as Head of Utilities Corporate Finance
