Alltracel forms joint venture with nanofiber technology innovators Elmarco

By E. Janene Geiss

Philadelphia, July 19 - Alltracel Pharmaceuticals plc announced Wednesday the establishment of a global mutually exclusive joint venture technology and business development partnership with current nanotechnology research and development partners Elmarco.

The agreement covers nanofiber-based technologies and products in the professional and consumer wound care markets as well as other specialist medical-related markets, according to a company news release.

The joint venture will be the single point of contact for business development and license and supply agreements based on the relevant intellectual property and associated patents, officials said.

The venture will be based in the European Union and is expected to be operational by September.

This commercial development follows the first quarter's successful development of an effective nanofiber-based delivery platform for Alltracel's patented m.doc based wound care technology.

Subsequent commercial discussions with both current and new professional and consumer wound care manufacturing and other partners have led to the establishment of this joint venture to commercialize this technology, officials said.

The venture combines Elmarco's Nanospider technology with Alltracel's knowledge of the wound care markets, officials said.

Elmarco, based in Prague, Czech Republic, uses its proprietary process for spinning polymers into nano-scale fibers for a range of uses.

Alltracel is a Dublin, Ireland, medical technology company focused on wound care, oral care and cardiovascular health.
