FT 3289 registers January Effect Plus Portfolio Series units

By Toni Weeks

San Diego, Nov. 21 - FT 3289 has registered units of its January Effect Plus Portfolio Series, according to an S-6 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The depositor is Wheaton, Ill.-based First Trust Portfolios LP.

The trust seeks current income with total return as a secondary objective by investing in a diversified portfolio of common stocks issued by closed-end investment companies that invest in U.S. and foreign common stocks and taxable bonds, including high-yield securities. The closed-end funds are ones that may benefit once tax-loss selling pressures abate after the end of the year.

The units will have an offering price of $10 and a net asset value of $9.576 each.

Each unit will carry a maximum sales charge of up to 4.5%, consisting of a creation and development fee of 0.5% and a deferred sales charge, which will be 3.45% for investors paying the public offering price of $10 per unit. Investors who pay less than $10 per unit will have a deferred sales charge of more than 3.45% but less than 4%, and those who pay more than $10 per unit will have a deferred sales charge of less than 3.45%.

The maximum fee for unit purchasers of $50,000 or more is 3.7% and decreases on a sliding scale to 2.45% for investments of $1 million or more.

The initial date of deposit will be in December, and the mandatory termination date will be Dec. 9, 2013.
