Allied Research acquires SFBC's Miami business

By Lisa Kerner

Charlotte, N.C., Aug. 14 - Allied Research International said it has acquired key assets of SFBC International Inc.'s Miami operations, including a clinical laboratory, equipment, and 46-station cardiac monitoring suite.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"These assets will be re-located to ARI's new state-of-the-art, 150-bed phase 1 clinic in Miami that opened this spring," chief operating officer and Allied Research founder Piyush Patel said in a company news release.

"ARI will also employ selected leading staff from SFBC's Miami operations."

The acquisition expands Allied Research's capacity to perform phase 1 studies. In addition, the Miami area provides the company with a large pool of experienced, healthy volunteers and subjects with specific medical conditions needed for special population studies.

Allied Research is a privately held contract research organization based in Toronto.
