Freddie Mac issues $29.53 billion of debt securities, buys back $90 million during March

New York, April 26 - Freddie Mac issued $29.53 billion of debt securities during March, according to the agency's summary for the month.
In comparison, the agency issued $25.03 billion of debt securities in February and $40.83 billion in March 2010.
The agency repurchased $90 million of debt securities in March. It repurchased $2.65 billion the month before and no debt securities in the year-ago period.
The agency said that $28.75 billion of debt securities matured or were redeemed during March.
The total amount of debt securities outstanding at the end of the month was $532.32 billion. This is a decline of about $60.85 billion, or 10.26%, from a year earlier, when the total outstanding was $593.17 billion.
In February, $21.79 billion of debt securities matured or were redeemed, and the total amount of debt securities outstanding at the end of the month was $531.58 billion.
All of the debt securities referenced above have a term of more than one year.
When debt securities with a term of one year or less are added, the total amount of debt securities outstanding at the end of March was $729.06 billion, compared with $716.71 billion at the end of February and $831.42 billion at the end of March 2010.
