Freddie Mac issues $14.65 billion, buys $3.11 billion in October

Tacoma, Wash., Nov. 24 - Freddie Mac issued $14.65 billion of senior debt securities and subordinated debt securities during October and repurchased $3.11 billion, according to a summary for the month issued by the agency.
The figures are up from September, when the agency issued $12.57 billion of debt securities and repurchased $2.78 billion.
The agency said $18.01 billion of debt securities matured or were redeemed during October. A month earlier, the figure was $25.73 billion.
In October 2008, the agency issued $10.43 billion of debt securities, and $12.90 billion of debt securities matured or were redeemed. Another $1.07 billion were repurchased.
The total amount of Freddie Mac debt securities outstanding was $814.10 billion at the end of October, compared with $826.16 billion at the end of September and $868.47 billion at the end of October 2008.
For the year through October, $308.42 billion of debt securities have been issued and $34.31 billion have been repurchased. At the end of September, $293.77 billion of debt securities had been issued and $31.20 billion had been repurchased.
In all of 2008, $244.31 billion of debt securities were issued and another $17.95 billion were repurchased.
